The
Roughing It Smoothly Rally is now in the history books. Watch for photos in the Chapter Album, held by Marge Hendricks.
The rally started on Thursday with the afternoon and evening free for visiting with old friends, meeting new friends and discovering the area. Kirsty from the Cowichan Visitor Bureau provided many treats for our goody bags. One coupon was used by many attendees on Thursday evening; the $10 buffet and $20 in slot play at Chances Casino. A good time was had by all!
Friday, we enjoyed pancakes with fruit toppings and sausages. In the evening, a taco bar was served and desserts were provided by the attendees. WOW, were those desserts ever good! And what about those comfy chairs!!!!
Saturday, breakfast was egg in a baggie, sausages and fruit. Saturday afternoon, some members played golf, attended the markets or just visited. There were activities going on at the Exhibition Centre that some member attended. The steak dinner; with Caesar salad, potatoes and desserts, again provided by attendees, was great. Everyone cooked their own on the grill or the barbecues that were provided---all cooked to perfection (at least that’s what I was told).
The General Meeting was held on Saturday morning – we discussed future sites and elections were held. The Executive Board is: President Joe Blogg, Vice Presidents Bob Orr, Matt Blogg and Wayne Hendricks, Secretary Barbara Lucas, Treasurer Audrey Hauge, National Director Kathie Balogh and Alternate National Director Wayne Quesnel. Be sure to read the minutes that will be posted on the blog for more information. Friday evening the entertainment was R V Bingo; lots of FMCA merchandise was given away along with Canadian Tire Gift Cards. This seemed to be a hit. Saturday, Andy called Card Bingo and Stella was the big winner….
Sunday morning was a continental breakfast of muffins, croissants, bagels, and yogurt. We had the 50/50 draw and the winner was Jim Sharples. The winners of the Ken Williams Memorial Award are Wolf and Barbara Schlichting. A drawing was held for the flower pot table decorations and some more Canadian Tire Gift Cards.
A BIG THANK YOU to Sandy & Wayne Quesnel for the use of the refrigerator…it was sure used and appreciated! The time to clean up and say “see you soon” came and the 38 motorhomes departed the grounds with the occupants a couple pounds heavier.
Thank you for coming to the Spring Rally and making it a great success!
Cheers! Andy, Kathie, Matt, Barb and Pete
