General Meeting at May Rally

Hello everyone,

At the May Rally there will be a General Meeting and election of officers. According to our Constitution, a person can only serve two consecutive terms in office so the encumbants are no longer eligible to be re-elected into the following positions:

Treasurer
National Director
2 Directors

The encumbants in the following positions have only served one term and are eligible to be relected, unless someone else wants to run instead:

Secretary (Stella Blogg)
Director (Joe Blogg)

If anyone is interested in running for office in any of these positions, please contact me or Andy Balogh (akcbalogh@telus.net).

Also, if you are planning on attending the General Meeting and have any items you wish to include on the agenda, please contact me or Andy as soonas possible.

A detailed schedule for the Rally will be emailed within the next few days to all the people who have registered.

Cheers!
Stella Blogg,
Secretary,
Vancouver Islanders.

Vancouver Islanders 2008 Update

Welcome back to all those that have ventured back from the warm south to what has been called our Island spring, which is still lacking in warmth. This weekend, Easter, was somewhat of a mixed bag to those that may have missed it, including weather such as snow, hail, winds and of course rain. So nice to be back isn’t it. I hope you all had a safe and uneventful time away

On to brighter things, once again it is time to elect a new FMCA North West Area Vice President. There are two candidates’ which are both highly qualified for this position. They are Judy Keppler and Arvin Spofford. Both are present members of the NW Area executive and have their resumes posted on the www.fmcanw.org website. Please feel free to visit the site and have a read of their qualifications. As our National Director must vote for our chapter would you all please reply to me with your choice of vote. Once the e-mails are tallied I will pass on the info to our National Director who will vote as per the Vancouver Islanders’ majority desire. Please have your reply back to me by 10 April 2008.

After some discussion and lack of some volunteer’s it has been decided by the executive and majority of the membership who replied that our spring rally of 2008 will be held at Sandown Park Raceway in Sydney, same location as last year. Arrival date is May 23rd and departure May 25th. The executive will be hosting this rally. Some tentative information is as follows;

Arrive Friday 11 am 23rd May to be parked; dinner will be potluck that night,

Saturday, 24th May, pancake breakfast and catered dinner provided, lunch on your own

Sunday, 25th May, Continental Breakfast provided,

Cost for the rally is $65.00, please make check payable to Kathie Balogh, send to; 406 Terrahue Road, Victoria BC, V9C 2B5 by 5th May 2008

VANCOUVER ISLANDERS - WINTER 2007

I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2008. Once again a year has quickly passed us by and you wonder where all the time went, and what did I really do. I hope this update finds you all safe and healthy in whatever part of the country you may be in. Some of you are already in the far south where the weather is warm and others are preparing to leave, no matter what, you have those of us who stayed behind jealous again as we sit in near freezing temperatures and looking out at the rain falling once again. As the New Year approaches quickly I just wanted to mention a few things that are up and coming.
My understanding from the late fall rally that some of you attended; there was some discussion in having our spring rally somewhere other than at Sandown Raceway. As I have really not heard much from anyone about the spring rally, or even if there is someone willing to host as of yet, I have gone ahead and booked two areas for a possible Spring 2008 Rally. We have booked Sandown again and I have also booked the fairgrounds at Duncan. Both are reserved for May 23 to 25. I would like to hear back from all where you would like to have the spring rally so I can cancel one of the sites or if someone has another location in mind, let me know. If you could pass any suggestions on to me by the end of January that would be helpful so that we can start planning for our Spring Rally.

On another note, Bruce and I attended the North West Area fall business and planning meeting. Minutes for the meeting are available on the NW Area website. We also discussed at this meeting the up coming North West Area Rally being held June 5 to 7, 2008 in Albany Oregon, being called “Christmas In June”. From all the discussion this will be another wonderful and fun filled event. This rally usually draws about 500 coaches, so is much smaller than a National Convention. There will be another planning meeting to finalize the details in April, which I will be attending, so if there are any members out there that may be interested in helping out, let me know. More info on this event to follow and any updates will be posted on our and the NW Area website.

Lastly, I would like to thank all of you that have volunteered your time for our Vancouver Islanders Chapter, whether attending a rally at home or away, hosting or co hosting a local rally, or just helping setup, without your support we would not have the strong fellowship which is so abundant in our group.

Safe and happy travels

Andy
